Beth,

What's the cost today to get a hosted or behind-the-firewall data sync
solution certified by Drummond to become a Preferred Solution Provider for
GS1 (nee UCCNet)?

The last time I looked (when it was still UCCNet), it was $60,000 and 1-2
years for the initial battery of tests plus periodic follow-on charges for
retesting as the standards changed.

A fee of $10,000 is still outrageous for any one test when we've been
testing EDI translators and communications tools for decades directly with
our Trading Partners and VANs with minimal failure rates and at minimal
costs without any fees whatsoever.

If a product doesn't work, the marketplace will take of that problem.

It's also galling when the guy who defines the standards allows only one
organization to do the testing, and then goes out and starts and owns part,
if not all, of that organization so he can charge whatever he wants to
charge without fear of competition.

The fox is not only watching the hen house, he's eating the hens.

You should be ashamed of yourself defending a practice like that, even if
you are the President (especially if you are the President).

The facts are that Drummond Certified AS2 testing costs $10,000 per test
unlike "$50,000 plus a huge

yearly fee " as Earl Wertheimer said. We test as often as the supply chains
demand.

Don't get me started ;-)

If you search the group archive, you will find lots of comments about this.

Hint: Drummond Certification costs well over $50,000 US, plus a huge yearly

fee. Rik Drummond was the person who chaired the EDIINT committee.
