Uhm...guys-The RxASN is as a direct result of Drug Pedigree Legislation
going into effect in the State of Florida July 1, 2006. Any
prescription drug wholesaler MUST supply the supply-chain history of a
prescription drug in order to ship to the state of Florida. As a
manufacturer, we are not required by LAW to provide pedigree information
(other than verification) until the California law goes into effect on
January 1, 2007, but our customers are demanding it.

As far as Wal-Mart giving notice, they basically said that if we were
not ready to provide the RxASN (which is an 856 with extra added fun
like lot numbers, expiration dates, licensing information, etc) they
would not order from us. Although the big drug wholesalers have been
getting everything ready for these RxASNs for quite a while, Wal-Mart is
slow on the uptake and is taking it out on their suppliers.

We also only got the call from them last week stating that they needed
us to be ready to go by June 30, 2006.

Better still, you can tell them you can't do RFID.
Common Shawn, didn't they give you 6 month heads-up re 856 requirement?
If
they didn't -- simply call them back and tell them you need more time
(more
like few more month etc).
Comparing to Kohl's, K-Mart/Sears or JCP Wal-Mart is not such a big
deal...
Unless your ERP is completely out of wack, and can't support the ASN...
And BTW, on the end of the day it all comes down to the relationship
between
your sales and Wal-Mart buyer. Buyer may actually give you exemption,
and
you would NEVER have to do ASNs for them.
I've worked with a major Wal-Mart/Sams Supplier with over 150 million in
sales and we never had to do ASN... Go figure.
Good luck though.
Shluft.

there is an easy fix - tell them you can't do ucc128 yet. they won't
take the 856 without it.
