I have to agree here with Brian, at the price it's better to just bite the bullet and learn the product, wouldn't be the first time I had to learn a new product that I had know desire to learn. Unless of course you can prove the business case that a change in product will add to their bottom line or reduce operational costs enough to offset the investment loose. Good luck.
