Hello Group-
This question is in regards to Gentran: Director 5.3 trading partner
setup.
I have a client who has two internal divisions, each with its own
ISA Send/Receive code. Both internal divisions sending and
receiving identical EDI documents versions and layouts (and thus
maps) with a single customer. That customer has only one ISA
send/receive code.
I would like to set up and single install of Gentran: Director to
handle the company's two divisions. The goal:
* Outbound EDI must have the correct division's Sender Code.
* Inbound 997's must reconcile with the correct outbound document.
To accomplish this, I have tried two approaches in Gentran Trading
Partner Setup, both of which have failed due to duplicate key
problems:
___________
APPROACH 1)
Two Gentran Trading Partners, one for each division's interaction
with the same customer.
example: Gentran Trading Partners CUSTOMER-DIVISION1, and CUSTOMER-
DIVISION2.
This fails because no two trading partners can have the same EDI
Code or Application Code.
___________
APPROACH 2)
One Gentran Trading Partner (CUSTOMER) and two sets of
relationships for each document (EDI850-DIVISION1, EDI850-DIVISION2).
This fails because the same Gentran Trading Partner cannot have two
relationships with the same EDI document and version.
__________
Has anyone run into the same issue before? Can anyone offer a
solution short of setting up two installs of Gentran?
Several ideas that may come to mind are NOT an option, including:
* Changing translators upgrading to Gentran: Server or GIS
* Asking customer to use two EDI Send/Receive codes.
* Asking customer to use two EDI versions.
I believe this can be accomplished in Gentran: Director by clever
setup of trading partnerships, break maps, and/or system import
maps. Please tell me if you know how.
Thanks,
Jim
