You may wish to look very carefully at the data that you received. Many
delimiters are not visible when viewed as a text file. If you can look at the
original file in "hex" mode, you may find that there really is a delimiter,
just one that could not be displayed. Also, remember that a Carriage Return,
and a Line Feed are both delimiters. If you are seeing each segment on a
separate line, you do have delimiters. Again, hex mode will really help you
out with this.

Subject: [EDI-L] Re: EDI Basics

hi Everyone,

Hi Michael Thanks for ur reply. So It means we cannot have a EDI File ( X12)
file without delimiters.

The customer who ever sends the EDI File must contain all the

three delimiters.Iam stressing on these bcoz I got a sample file of ASC X12
type without the segment Delimiter.

So is there possibility of an EDI File without delimiters (ie) the Fixed
length File which follows the Min and Max position.

Thanks in Advance,

Prasad

*My Question :*

Iam new to EDI world. Can anyone explain me Business Scenario between
the two Partners .How they transfer EDI data and what all the
Information he(sender) provides to partner who is receiving the EDI

You might want to consider attending one of EDI Partners' "EDI 101" classes.
I've sent several clients there and all have said
really good things about them. Info: http://www.edipartners.com/

I guess you really are new. The answer is no, you may not. By definition
ANSI ASC X12 data format is delimited.
