I think you're right when it comes to gXML, that it was a standards
initiative that didn't fly.

I haven't seen SEF-files been used to exchange message implementation
guidelines between partners either, but quite frequently between different
EDI tools internally.

I was trying to track down more information on gXML, but I haven't been too 
successful.  Most of the Google links are many years old, and the edifecs
links 
no longer work.   
Sounds like another 'open format' with no users...  ;-(

Do you have any recent information, or a source for the specification?

Is anyone using SEF or gXML or something else to import specifications?
