reports that a startup called Jitterbit (http://www.jitterbit.com)
has introduced a new application integration tool. In a field crowded
with the big boys (webMethods, Tibco, and even the newly minted SAP
XI) what makes this tool unique is that it's open source. Developers
are encouraged to join the Jitterbit community and develop
"Jitterpaks" to enable easy integration between all manner of
applications. Best of all, the client tool runs on Windows and Linux.
Can an open source tool make it in the EAI space? I'd vote "Yes."
I'd even argue that this is the most appropriate use of FOSS that I've
ever seen.
