Well, that does raise some issues I guess. However, in all my years ,I can't
recall EVER seeing a duplicate PO from two different customers.
In Aersospace/Government contracts, each buying party had a different prefix,
and unique POs.
Later, when I moved into wholesale/apparel, different customers had different
PO structures.
A good friend, IT Manager of a major telecommunications supplier, uses the
same key. They do about 5000 line items daily, and he hasn't had any problems.
Of course, he only has 2 or 3 major customers. And my experience never
exceeded about rwo dozen. All end users and/or retailers.
I guess if you were selling to the general public or Ma and Pa shops, and
they were using Quick Books or something similair, yeah, it could happen.
Again, however, make the key Customer ID + PO......
Don't really understand the Pot, Kettle, Black remark *scratches head*

Customer #1 sends his PO # 1001
Customer #2 sends his PO # 1001
Kettle, pot, black?
