Our auditors have identified issues with the way Gentran BASIC (mainframe)
controls passwords (i.e. no formatting rules, no requirement to change
passwords, etc.). Has anyone run into this, and implemented any sort of
work-around? Another system in our area had a similar problem, and
implemented a change to take the passwords straight from TSO (Top Secret).
That has been suggested as an option here, but that other system was one in
which the vendor provided the source code, and Gentran BASIC is not, so I'm
pretty sure I'm in a different situation.
If anyone has experiences with this mainframe Gentran issue they would be
willing to share, I would appreciate it.
