Out of memory is not an issue with GIS 31 but it is a problem with JVM
version. Let me know if you need more information.

RFC server program running incase you use tRFC. SAP folks might be having
concerns becasue they would have to track and manage multiple ports..
My knowledge about GIS is from 3.1. The tRFC option was pretty expensive
interms of memory usage..and the adapter would crash with an out of
memory..It caused a lot of problems in tracking which IDOCs were succssfully
sent and which were not..GIS seemed to handle files pretty easily..
It might have changed int he newer version...
