All.

A "Mercator" user sent me an e-mail last week which I'm finding difficult to
answer. First, because the syntax of the e-mail message is, well, a little
confusing, but more importantly because my background is NOT Unix, and
because I have precious little exposure to version 7.5.1.

Essentially, I think the user is trying to run both Mercator 2.1.1 (!!!!)
and "Mercator" 7.5.1 on the same Unix Server, but is running into conflicts.

I've cut and pasted his e-mail message below. If you understand the verbage,
can anyone give me some suggestions?

I appreciate it.

e-mail msg below:

We are unable to run mercator 7.5 on unix box as the variables used for
declaring the home directory, temp dir etc are conflicting with the
variables we have used for version 2.1.1. We tried assinging these values
related to new version to different variables but it doesnt work either.
When we change the value assingned to the old varialbles to correspond to
new version its working fine. Also, the envsetup for older version of
mercator is present at a location which occurs before the locaiton where the
new versions' envsetup is located. So, by default when the setup is run its
picking up the envsetup of olderversion. Please advise.
