And the answer to your second question is: YES! Technically you can run them as is, without a recompile. I'd recommend a recompile and a good regression test. Also, read the release notes and see if you have any of the changed stuff inside the maps, or if there are some new features that you might be able to use. I'm not suggesting that you rewrite everything. For example, you'll get better performance removing run maps and adding the FILE adapter.
