MC,
The following is the implementation note in the VICS EDI Guidelines, Version 4050; I am pretty sure it has always been this way. I do recall the conversations we had when the wording was first drafted. "The number is sequentially assigned, by the sender, starting with one within each trading partner. The trading partner at the interchange level is defined by the Interchange Receiver ID (ISA08). The control number is incremented by one for each interchange envelope sent to the trading partner. When the control number reaches 999999999 (maximum size), the next interchange envelope will have control number 000000001." It is in Section V - Data Mapping of the VICS EDI Guidelines. James D. I have never heard of this requirement, any information would be greatly appreciated.....MC --------------------------------- Ahhh...imagining that irresistible "new car" smell?
