Jeff,

I would recommend having a separate machine used simply for Gentran archive
purposes. That was our plan but, if your Network Admin is as strict as mine
(which is a very good thing) he won't want Gentran on the network anymore. So,
what we decided to do is use the raw archive data files and search them
directly for the documents we needed. Of course it can be messy thanks to
Gentran's extra bits added in between the data. But, if you understand your
data well you can piece together all the pieces without much trouble. It's not
the best solution, but it works great for us.

Good Luck,

David Nielson

Subject: [EDI-L] GIS migration complete. What to do w/ Gentran Server

For those who migrated from Gentran Server to GIS. What process did you
put in place to be able to recover archived Gentran data? Were you so
happy you completed the migration that you launched the server from the
roof, used it as a cocktail table in your office or did you just turn it
off until someone asks you for a file?

Thanks!
