Dear Travis,
Testing can either be extremely easy or very difficult
depending on your counterparts and the level of bureaucracy you go through.
In one case I went through over 15 people just to test the 810/856/UCC
label. It seemed like each segment of an 856 or 810 had to be checked off
by a different person.
Surprisingly the one I most dreaded(Macy's) was the quickest and easiest.
Just a heads up, and I am sure you are already aware---any company that
gives you this much trouble, you should document EVERYTHING. Don't accept a
verbal approval of your 810/856 because then you have nothing to battle with
6 months down the road when you receive the first chargebacks.
Regarding the printed invoice-does your system use Crystal reports? We use
MAS500 for accounting (with Edisoft Merchant integration) and I've run into
testing for both EDI and non-EDI that wanted their internal customer numbers
on the invoice so I just modified the invoice in Crystal, assigned the
customer the new invoice form and that resolved the issue without affecting
other customers. If not, your system should have some way of exporting-in
which case you dump the invoice into excel and drop the data into a generic
template for the sake of the testing. The equivalent of whiting out, right?
Curious-what issues did you have with SAC? Most EDI retailers we have dealt
with ignore the SAC or have us return what is on the original 850.
Rory
