I always went by the philosophy that it needs to be retained for 7 years. I
keep going back to the IRS thing..

Although I have no clue where it is written, I am just going by what I have
been told in the past..distant past..I'm old (but not too old).

Subject: [EDI-L] EDI legal requirements and Ramifications of not Archiving
EDI raw Data

Can anyone out there let me know if there are any legal requirements
and ramifications around NOT archiving raw EDI data?
What is the timeframe on an EDI doc, in its raw form, needs to be
archived before deletion?

I don't know if there are legal requirements to save the original EDI
data, we are health care industry, I don't know if SOX requires it.
But, even absent legal requirements, the original EDI data ought to be
kept for audit and dispute resolution purposes.

Any information that will help me determine if need to keep the EDI
data.

Thanks
