When I worked for the medical products manufacturing company, we routinely
sent out a full load truck with multiple orders. Each order had its own
ASN. We were not penalized for this practice. Our customers were large
medical products distributors. Some were very sophisticated in their
requirements, but the issue you describe was never a problem.

Subject: [EDI-L] More basic ASN questions

I don't know why the ASN has to be such a confusing concept for us - but it
continues to be.

In order to build the proper hierarchy for an ASN, all purchase orders that
are going to ship on the same truck must be staged into some type of "load".
However, I have reason to believe our shipping crew has incorrectly created
ASNs for some customers in the past by not doing so, and subsequently
creating multiple ASNs for orders that are on the same truck DESTINED FOR
THE SAME LOCATION. (Not LTL-type shipments, which I know multiple ASNs could
be valid for.)

I'm not aware of ever receiving chargebacks for this, if we indeed did make
this mistake.

Anyone know what the story is there? Is that a common occurrence, a complete
screw up, maybe acceptable to very few?

Just curious.
Thanks,

        Travis-
