EDI Technical Lead.

Overview:
Goal Contribution: Balance enterprise capability with business needs 
in solution creation. Build centers of excellence to be best-in-class 
as we plan, build and run EDI solutions.
Purpose:
Responsible for designing, implementing and supporting applications, 
systems and IT products required to enable client's business 
objectives. Responsible for providing Tier 2/3 support for EDI 
applications, systems and IT products required to enable client's 
business objectives. Responsible for overall application health 
monitoring, assessments and improvement.
Responsibilities: 
•       Assist with creation and implementation strategies related to 
EIT Mission, Vision, and Values, and objectives as they relate to 
Application Management and Support. 
•       24x7x365 secure, cost-efficient and reliable application 
support organization that leverages collective resources and 
capabilities to maintain and support applications. 
•       Resident business process expert 
•       Validates break/fix severity levels 
•       Approves technology solutions 
•       Provide maintenance and minor enhancements for applications 
for on-going supportability, stability, and enabling business 
functions. 
•       Help manage demand for enhancements & support work 
Provide technical leadership to all maintenance and support 
activities related to EDI systems. Give subject matter expertise to a 
Tier 2/3 support organization focused on supportable application 
delivery, development of defect resolutions/minor enhancements, 
capacity planning, application monitoring, case management, and 
resolution of major outages for assigned applications. Responsible 
for approving technology solutions for the maintenance and 
development of EDI systems managed within the Service Delivery 
organization. 

Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities:
•               Technical Proficiency – Applies comprehensive 
understanding of concepts within own technical area to design 
relatively advanced solutions; demonstrates understanding of key 
business drivers. Serves as an expert within a technical area and 
educates others on technical issues.  Requires in depth knowledge of 
organization stated technology standards, procedures and methods.
•               Assessment - Resolves complex support issues 
involving production systems.  Performs advanced validation of system 
health following changes or upgrades to code, servers or 
environment.  Participates in routine failovers, mock outages and DR 
scenarios.  Translates and interprets functional requirements 
documentation for projects.   
•               Creating and Delivering Solutions - Develops or 
adapts new innovative solutions to moderately complex problems for 
job family to improve performance and efficiency, consciously 
balancing the risk and reward trade-off. Develops solutions for the 
organization's core application systems and supports interfacing 
systems.  Assists in system/applications integrations.  Performs 
design reviews.

•               Implementation - Lends business process expertise to 
facilitate effective implementation.  Measures performance of the 
newly implemented solution against desired results and makes basic 
improvements; demonstrates a strong sense of ownership for outcomes.
•               Consultation - Recommends methods for improved work 
processes, detailing the process's strengths and answering clients' 
questions to gain group consensus.
•               Customer Orientation - Interprets customer needs and 
their business challenges, assesses requirements and identifies 
solutions to non-standard requests.
•               Major Event Management - Applies knowledge and skills 
to a wide range of standard and non-standard situations. During 
significant outages impacting EDI systems, provide leadership for 
service restoration activities while managing communications to 
clients and IT leadership regarding status. Drives significant issues 
to resolution via Root Cause Analysis process.
•               Maturity - Provides sound judgment under significant 
pressure. Responsible for decisions impacting a production 
environment which processes over $20B in customer orders annually. 
•               Flexibility – Provides technical leadership to a team 
of geographically distributed resources providing 24x7 on call 
support.  Must be available 24x7 for the escalation of application 
and environment issues.  May be required to work different shifts 
periodically for major issues and events
•               Team work - Working with leadership of other IT teams 
(network, database, engineering, service center, build teams, etc.) 
for process improvement, issue resolution and project delivery. 
•               Innovative Certainty - Tracks internal trends and 
suggests process improvements based on observations. Questions 
current methods, while evaluating broad implications, to develop 
practical improvements; focuses on achieving goals rather than a fear 
of failure.
Approaches issues from multiple perspectives and collaborates with 
clients in generating creative, effective and practical solutions.
•               Interpersonal Skills – Must be able to develop and 
maintain strong relationships with various teams including 
development, engineering and support.  Must be comfortable 
interacting with business partners and senior level management.
•               Case Management - Leading organization to develop 
procedures, knowledge base, and competency to resolve complex cases. 
Monitoring service levels and overall quality of case management 
activities. Works with other teams to identify and address root 
causes of support issues and incorporating corrective actions in 
future development plans.
 
Qualifications:
 
Technical Skills:   
7 + years IT experience       
EDI ANSI X12                                      
GXS Enterprise System 7.5 or higher
GXS Application Integrator 4.1 or higher
Strong Unix shell and Perl scripting
Working experience in Oracle and SQL Server databases
Analytical and troubleshooting skills
Object Oriented Programming experience
C++
XML knowledge
Network essentials              
HP UNIX
