Good day,

I have been asked to set up communications with a German automotive
supplier who will only agree to communicate with Odette FTP over
ISDN. I have asked to use VPN or SSL connection over Internet, but
have been rejected.

I have host licenses available in my LexiCom server, and LexiCom
does speak OFTP. I have gotten the ISDN 2B+D circuit installed and
even purchased the Multitech MTA128NT ISDN TA (aka "modem")
recommended by CLEO.

I have manually dialed the supplier's number in Hyperterm, and the
modem does make an X.75 connection (that's X.25 with rate
adaptation) connection with the supplier's node.

My problem is between LexiCom and the ISDN modem. LexiCom for
Windows 3.5 logs a java exception that CAPI 2.0 is not evailaable.
(CAPI is common ISDN application programming interface).

I asked CLEO how to get CAPI, since this is the modem/TA CLEO said I
should get! They gave a curt response that I shouls talk to
Multitech. So far, I have no response from Multitech.

I think I'm going to have to get a different modem/TA. I'm
surprised at how little good information is available on Google. It
looks like Zyxel's omni.net might have CAPI in its drivers, but I'm
reluctant to waste money on another modem ... and I'm starting to
run up against my deadline for getting this running.

Has anybody else on the list had to deal with Odette and ISDN? It
is one of the most frstrating things I've encountered in recent
memory.

Basically I'm looking for an ISDN modem/TA known to work correctly
with LexiCom.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations,
-Bill
