I think the original problem Laurie had to resolve had to do with 852s, which are used to report movement, inventories, etc. Companies use 852s as part of CRP or VMI systems. Distributor sends Manufacturer 852s each day showing each of Manufacturers SKUs in Distributors warehouses are being managed by Manufacturer. Manufacturer analyses movement, quantities en route, quantities on hand, and creates a forecast and purchase order on behalf of Distributor. Software to do this analysis is expensive, so perhaps Laurie wants the report to either back-up or take the place of the analysis software.
The capabilities of Softshare Delta and ECS can easily address this issue. With Delta, you can create databases, or arrays in memory that can be transformed into custom-formatted HTML reports and emailed to the user community. I have done it dozens of times, including with 852s - which we used during the implementation phase as supplement, and for comparison with our VMI analysis tool. Softshare is an easy company to deal with. Their products are fully documented, support is included in the purchase price, and on-going support is affordable. Training classes are also available and affordable. The cost of Delta and ECS together is usually less than most companies pay for support alone of their less-capable big-name EDI software solutions. I used these products for years before my employer sold out to a foreign-ownership and I was laid off. Now, I represent Softshare solutions as a sideline to my consulting practice. Please allow me to introduce you to the sales team at Softshare if you are interested in finding out more. Good idea Troy. The EDI Notepad from Soft Share is an excellent reporting tool and it's free: http://www.softshare.com/software/edinotepad/ <http://www.softshare.com/software/edinotepad/> . I haven't tried it on an 837, but I haven't run into an x12 doc that it didn't work on yet. [html] Importance: Low >From the descriptions I have read about 1 EDI Source, Inc. on this list, they appear to be guilty of extortion and fraud. I wish I knew more about Laurie's report requirements to suggest a viable solution. Would it be within the focus of this list for list members to suggest reporting tools that have worked well for them?
