It's true, it's true. And you won't just need Zantac, you'll need
Xanax as well.

WebMethods is not a translator, it's a toolkit, a set of tinkertoys
that you have to put together yourself. What is advertised as
its "EDI capability" is just a bunch of extraordinarily complex
components that have to be tinker-toyed together to make a roll-your-
own translator, if you're lucky.

Be prepared to hire expensive consultants, because the EDI components
are insanely complicated and you'll never figure it out on your own.
Then be prepared to keep consultants on site forever to maintain and
enhance the roll-your-own tinker-toy translator going forward.
You'll never be rid of them.

Or, if you want to create your own little corporate empire, then you
can easily justify hiring extra staff who will be be trained to be
solely dedicated to the care and feeding of the tinkertoy structure.
They won't have time to do any actual EDI work, though, because they
won't have time to do anything else apart from WebMethods care and
feeding.

Or, if you don't want to take a high-risk path that will burn money
forever, and if you don't feel compelled to build an empire in your
company, buy an off-the-shelf translator.

KISS.

Joe
