I have used the Extol product on the iSeries and was very impressed with it.
One of the things that I appreciated most was the excellent technical
support that I received. I found the mapper to be very flexible and there
were some options for the day to day operations that made my life easier,
such as being able to only display certain user specified segments in an EDI
document. This was indispensible when viewing large documents. Also, being
able to edit the EDI data made my life easier on the very few occasions that
I let anyone know that I was able to do this. (Document everything!!!)
As for tips on implementation, take full advantage of the services that
Extol offers. They will make your job easier. Also, as I recall, the
Knowledge Base on the web site was invaluable to me, easy to search and
generally well written.
