That is an excellent point, Brian.

That, and going one step further: each 'sender' should have 'something' in 
place to create a list of "documents sent more than 24 (48?)  business hours 
ago for which we have no 997 or a 997 indicating 'rejected.' "

I have been toying with the idea of creating some kind of low-cost 
reconciliation tool for several years.. you know, one which could actually 
find the "segment and element" which have offended the Lords of X12 instead 
of being forced to count?

And speaking of low cost and 997s.... (he shamelessly segued).....for only
