Sometimes it depends on "why" it is "not accepted" If you have an invalid part number, a lot of ERP and/or EDI systems can't handle that when generating whatever input is required to create an '855' .. so they don't. OTOH, if the item is not accepted because "not available from stock" (with standing instructions or PO data meaning 'fill and kill') then that usually CAN be easily included on the 855. It's really by partnership agreement.... the ACK segment offers a bunch of status and reason codes partners may agreee to exchange. As a 'buyer' I would personally like to receive an acknowlegment for each line of every order, but because deep down inside I am just one hell of a guy, if producing an ACK for an invalid part is a problem for you, I'll just adjust my ACK processing software to inderstand "no ack for a line= invalid part=assume canceled" Michael C.
