I've never used gentran iSeries so I cannot appreciate those differences. I've used gentran basic and basic plus 0S/390 and gentran server from version 1.x to 5.x and while I use GIS/SI now I remember quite a lot. I do suspect that any change made under those circumstances (no help, no training and apparently not by choice) would adversely color your opinion of the product.
