I strongly suspect that "promoting an open-source project" would be 
considered outside the scope of an encyclopaedia article; I certainly 
would not expect a reference at that level in 'Britannica'!

I have found that Wikipedia editors are pretty ruthless about external 
links, even ones which I personally would have deemed valuable and 
justifiable. For an article on an arcane topic (sorry, folks, the world 
in general would classify EDIFACT as such) it may take a while, but they 
will get around to it in the end.
