FWIW, you can download (free) a Win/32 command-line tool to convert back and forth between one segment followed by <newline> (unwrapped), continuous stream (wrapped) and blocked (fixed number of characters between <newline> characters) from my website.
http://www.talsystems.com, 'Tech Corner', download "EDICLEAN." That also removes data not part of any interchange (technical name: "crap") and supports either <LF> ('nix) or <CR><LF> (PC) as the <newline> character(s). EDICLEAN reads "whatever it finds" transparently and writes "whatever you tell it to write." . And because it gets all its params from the command line, it's handy for including in "unattended" systems. (which is why I wrote it in the first place).
