The bigger mountain to climb here will be truly understanding the health care revenue cycle business processes and how each information exchange plays in the end-to-end process – eligibility verification to billing and collection to claim adjudication and claim payment. If you don’t understand these critical business processes trying to do any analysis, design, etc. for EDI will be a walk in hell.

Wrote back and told her to include more description so candidates could make smarter choices... Of course knowing there's only one EDI app on Windows, one EDI app on Unix and one EDI app on mainframe really keeps these choices pretty narrow... NOT!!!! If I get something more from the recruiter, I'll send out an update... But unfortunately that's all I have for now... So are my superior COBOL/CICS, my adequate .NET skills, or my sorely lacking JAVA skills necessary for this ;-) A friend of mine said the only the wrong with COBOL is the “OBOL” on the end.
