Unfortunately we have a language that has been corrupted by well-meaning persons to eliminate the feminine from what once was gender-inclusive nouns. Brotherhood or fraternity could mean male-only, or, contextually, humans only. "God created man in His own image. Male and FEMALE created he them." See? Inclusive. Welcome to the fraternity.
