Somebody once told me that if I try to make a process idiot-proof, somebody will just invent a better idiot. Maybe this applies.
If you check to see if an ISA contains over 500 POs, the next time, you will get 20,000 ISAs. If you check for duplicate POs, somebody will reset their PO numbering system, or better yet, their system will assign fresh PO numbers to duplicate orders. You can't win. But you can do what management demands. You get paid by the hour/day/week right? (This week, you should get paid by the PO line.) Over the past thirty+ years I've written a lot of 'reasonableness' edits for many different business systems. Are you sure you're just not jealous of your management for coming up with one such edit which never occurred to you? Michael C. Mattias Tal Systems Inc.
