Depends on my audience. To a 'techie' it's a "transaction set" (ANSI) or 
"message" (EDIFACT); but to a USER,  "document" is IMNSHO the perfect term 
and the one I've used for years.

Techie: Functional Group. User: a group (or batch) of related documents

Techie: Interchange.  User: A big batch of documents (they really don't need 
to know the nuts and bolts, do they?)

If you get your users thinking "document"  then they "get it" a lot quicker!
