Narayanan,

I would think the REF Segment would be your best (maybe only) bet.

You'd have to see what ID Codes might be applicable ("MR" - Merchandise Type?),
or just go with "ZZ" and come up with your own set of codes that work for you
(you could add explanatory text in REF03).

However, if you are the recipient, you may be SOL -- I'm not sure that many
retailers would be thrilled about adding a Segment to an 816 if it's not
already sent unless your client is a HUGE supplier. I suspect the best you may
be able to get is a (non-EDI) spreadsheet with store details.

Subject: [EDI-L] 816-Org Relationship

Hi all, Happy Friday!!
Is there a way to capture the information about the type of items sold at a
given location via EDI 816 message??
We are planning to implement EDI 816 to capture the store location address info
and we are pondering over if we can get the additional info like "this store
sells only tools" vs "this store sells both tools and components"...kind of
info from the distributors.

Is this practically possible? If so, what segments would be used for this
purpose??
Can you please share your thoughts around this??

Thanks
Have a great weekend!!!
NB
