It normally contains the net total, since EDI invoices are between partners who are not the final customer in the VAT chain. The tax value in the MOA+124 then becomes: Tax = goods_item_total * (VAT_percentage/100) If the total *was* the gross then the calculation would be: Tax = goods_item_total * (VAT_percentage/(100+VAT_percentage)) Incidentally, the EDIFACT compression rules require you to remove leading zeroes in variable length numeric fields.
