I am looking for an EAI Technical Specialist. This is a 6 month contract
located in Calgary (AB), CANADA.

EAI Technical Specialist:
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
a.. As a Technical Specialist within the Information Management department of
Information Technology, you will play a key role in working with all
application development and support personnel and external customers by
providing application related services in the Enterprise Application
Integration (EAI) environment, such as MQ, EDI, XML, FTP, WTX (Mercator) and
others. These services support the delivery of A2A, B2B, transformational,
operational and analytical business solutions in development, acceptance, and
production environments.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
a.. Position reports to Manager of EAI
b.. Service Delivery:
a.. Work with development teams from project initiation through to
production implementation in a consultative role, representing both internal
and external customers? interests in a timely and effective manner.
b.. Support development communities? use of EAI environment.
c.. Work with application support teams to ensure business solution
availability through effective proactive monitoring and prevention to avoid
unplanned outages.
d.. Work through our Business Analyst and in concert with our vendor
suppliers, who provide server and support services, to ensure our client's
business solutions are provided in a way which is both business and cost
effective.
e.. Manage stakeholder expectations to ensure level of service is
understood.
f.. Identify and prioritize enhancements to existing applications and
ensure execution per plan.
g.. Ensure EAI application failures are handled effectively and resolved in
a timely fashion.
h.. Provide status updates on assigned project deliverables.
i.. Work with EAI team members to determine best value service improvement
opportunities.
j.. Deliver on chosen improvement opportunities following established
service development best practices.
k.. Maintain a strong knowledge and understanding of EAI services and how
they pertain to the delivery of our defined services.
l.. Implementing efficient and repeatable processes
a.. Process Improvement:
a.. Collaborate with Business partners to assess process performance,
defining and analyzing business problems and improvement opportunities.
b.. Provide analysis, facilitation and support to enable Business managers
to effectively define, develop, update and effectively integrate enhanced
business processes.
c.. Stay current with industry directions and technology capabilities.
a.. Communication:
a.. Write clear and concise business and process documents.
b.. Understand how to communicate difficult/sensitive information
tactfully.
c.. Use creative thinking to solve business problems.
d.. Plan, prioritize and set effective goals.
e.. Work effectively in ambiguous or stressful situations.
a.. Leadership:
a.. Demonstrate an established drive for results: customer focused task
discipline, fully exploiting available resources and delivering to negotiated

e.. Participate in EAI oncall rotations to support a 7x24 business.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
a.. Postsecondary degree or equivalent in Computer Science, or equivalent
corporate and industry experience.
b.. Minimum of 5 years of relevant railway and/or IT working experience.
c.. Experience with UNIX and WTX (Mercator) are mandatory. Experience with
EDI X12, ORACLE are a plus
d.. Selfstarter.
e.. Strong oral and written communication skills.
f.. Comprehension of Enterprise Application Integration principles and
practices.
g.. Ability to define, document, implement, and operate repeatable,
wellpurposed processes.
h.. Strong organizational and time management skills.
i.. Ability to work both in an independent or a highly interactive team
situation.
j.. Ability to work with customers and vendors at all levels and skill sets.
