Hope you're enjoying the sales emails :)

First, be aware that there is no "best" translator.  There are only
applications/services that more or less closely meet your specific business
requirements and budget.  You cannot begin to decide which this will be until
you have thoroughly, completely and honestly analyzed your current system,
identified its strengths and weaknesses and assigned a relative hierarchy to
your requirements.  Put this in writing and don't be swayed by smoke and
mirrors.  In fact, finding an unbiased consultant to help you through this
process will save you lots of time, money and pain down the road.  There are
quite a few on the list (not me, I don't do that).

Second, have a look in the archives, this question has been asked a few times
recently.

Subject: [EDI-L] Best EDI Translators

It has been a while since I last posted something for EDI. During my absence, a
lot has changed. I am hoping you can point me towards the best translator out
there today. I understand this is an opinionated question and hope to get some
advantages and disadvantages to your software.

Currently, we own the Gentran 3.0 on the OS/400.

We are looking into an initiative to remove all software from OS/400 onto
either windows or unix platforms.

We are open to any good valued open source projects too.

I look forward in hearing your responses. Thank you in advance for your help.
