VANS continue to lose traffic as B2B gateway applications become more powerful. ERP vendors are now bundling gateway functionality with their packages. Why pay for a VAN if you can connect directly in a secure manner over the internet? It's interesting to note North America is still big on VAN use where Europe has many more direct connections within their supply chains.
VAN's like GXS are trying to move their customers to more of a managed service model to add value. Why build a dinosaur? -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [EDI-L] VANs <TECH><SALES> From: Todd Gould <[email protected]> Date: Sat, May 11, 2013 2:41 am To: EDI--L <[email protected]> Yes, I built that. ;-) Like anything else, 80% is easy, the other 20% will make your hair turn gray. Phil, if you are really interested you can build one on top of ECGridOS (like http://netedi.co.uk) or you can license the whole package. If you have any questions, drop me a line.
