Before complaining about specific useless nicks, I usually right-click
the nick in xchat, and see if there's something sensible in the Real
Name field.

(I'm not a very advanced (understand: I'm a dumb) IRC user, so I don't
know off-hand how to do the same with textual IRC commands, sorry.)

In your case, the Real Name field has always been correctly populated,
which is why I've never bothered you with this.

But:
- apparently, Johannes didn't check the Real Name field (otherwise he
  wouldn't have written "unixsmurf"),
- precious few people bother to set something sensible there.

So the Real Name field doesn't work in practice (i.e., you were one of
the exceptions :))

I just generally dislike talking to pseudonyms, so people should at
least fake plausible full names and/or matching nicks if they expect me
to pay attention...
