I got a message that this bounced, so I'm sending it again. Apologies if it comes through twice. I've read several times on this listserve comments from people that when p(y) is not extreme, a logistic regression model can be estimated by a linear regression model. Is there a cite for this? I used GPOWER to estimate the sample size needed for a linear regression to detect various effect sizes and I need to justify using this as opposed to software that directly estimates logistic regression sample size for a given odds ratio, because I'm interested in effect size, rather than odds ratio. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
