The US Federal reserve has a large data set of information for the 1998 sample of some 4,000 families. http://www.federalreserve.gov/pubs/oss/oss2/scfindex.html The data includes income, assets, liabilities and net worth by family. This questionnaire is far from simple but the data is not available anywhere else that I know of. Has anyone tried to analyze this data?
