Hello!
In their book from 1999, "Latent Variable Models and Factor Analysis",
pages 85, as well as110-119 David Bartholomew and Martin Knott describe
a method for approximating maximum likelihood estimation of the model
coefficients within dichotomous/polytomous latent trait models.
I have a somewhat scarse background in statistics and, and even the
method is very well described, some of the details seems implicit to me.
What I am looking for would be a little (but detailed) numeric example
that uses the method. possibly programmed in Matlab or SPSS (this is of
course no requirement. A text would be marvelous).
I would be greatful to any help
