Much of the apparent disagreement may reflect differences in the
course audience. For example, it is not uncommon here for one student
to do a Minitab assignment and run off copies for their friends.
While the atmosphere bothers me, it is not too difficult to detect
this sort of thing. For example, four people may get the same
"random" sample and have the same misspellings. They really resent
any suggestion that there is anything immoral about this, so I simply
return these with a query as to which of the four should get any
points that were earned, or should I divide them equally among the
four? Until they get back to me, no points are recorded for any of
them. So far, no one has ever got back to me.
