Dear members of the list,
Can someone suggest what is good software procedure to solve this problem?

You intend investigating the effect of seven levels of plant spacing on the
cropping productivity of a new cultivar of highbush blueberry. Total yield
(t.ha-1) and fruit size (kg.plant-1) will be the response variables you
intend measuring. Based on previous experience, you decide that you need to
be able to detect differences of 2.5 t.ha-1 and 0.75 kg.plant-1 between your
cultivars by the fourth year of production. You will be laying out your
cultivars in the field follow
ing a randomised blocks system.

Questions:

1. Estimate the ideal number of replicates needed to detect the differences
you seek
2. Calculate the minimum differences of both total and average plant yield
that you could expect to detect if you subsequently find that you have
sufficient field space to run the experiment with 8 replicates (blocks).
Best,
Lazar, T.
