16 plots with 12 plants per plot accounts for 16x12 = 192 plants.
But you report 4 times as many.  Are you multiplying the 192 plants 
by the 4 replicates (in which case, what do you mean by "replicates"?) pr 
by one of the 4-level factors in the experimental design?

freedom) do you think you have, to begin with?
