Internet & Email sampling

Hi all,     We have been approached over the last week or so to conduct a number of internet and e-mail surveys.  One common theme is the issue of sampling.  Can anybody point me to any sites that gives a sound discussion of the disadvantages of 'self selection' or any other sampling issues.
