Dear list members,
Here we go again! As long-time list members know, North Carolina State
University will discontinue this list if people complain to the postmaster
about list-related problems. Occasionally, inappropriate messages are sent to
the list. Sometimes those messages give instructions for being removed from
the sender's distribution list. If you wish to reply to the sender of the
mail, PLEASE make sure that your REMOVE message does not go to the list
instead!
If you aren't careful, here's what happens:
One spam message goes to edstat.
Several edstat readers erroneously send REMOVE messages to edstat.
A few more people complain about the REMOVE messages.
Someone complains to the postmaster.
The postmaster threatens to discontinue the list.
PLEASE just hit "delete" when you see a message you don't like!
