How many different behaviors did you make counts of and do you really expect your
manipulation to affect all of them?

How long after the two groups were formed did you continue to make daily
observations?  That is, what was the total number of days the animals were
observed?

You have a large number of observations nested under a small number of animals. 
You might think of some kind of time series analysis for specific behaviors.  I
will be interested to see what advice other people have to offer.
