here's another density question.
x ~ U(a,b)
y ~ U(c,d)
where 0 < a < c < b < d. what is density of
1. z = min(x,y)
2. w = y - z
i'll appreciate it if you can give me some pointers. i did some matlab
simulations and my results show that
1. z is uniform between [a,c], jumps up at c and declines linearly upto b.
2. w is (almost) triangular between 0 and d-a, with an atom at 0.
even if the above are correct, i need to get analytical expressions for each.
i'll appreciate your help.
