I would like suggestions for a good statistics reference book for
secondary school teachers. I am involved in a project to get K-12
students doing some hands-on science. Part of this, obviously, is data
analysis and statistical inference such as: simple graphical techniques
for univariate and bivariate data, calculation of parameters (e.g.,
mean, SD, correlation), and statistical inference for comparisons of
means, correlations, etc. We can provide some workshop time for the
teachers to orient them on the basics, and we can act on on-line
advisors to them and their students. But, we still need something that
they can take home with them that they can use as a reference. Keep in
mind that these are people who: (1) are sincerely trying to do a good
job, (2) are poorly trained up to now, and (3) do not have lots of time
to devote to any one topic (either themselves or their students).
Please send me your answers directly as my newsreader service is flaky.
Thanks, Sam
