Assistant Professor, Educational Assessment
The Department of Measurement, Statistics and Evaluation in
the College of Education at the University of Maryland,
College Park, is seeking applications for a tenure-track
Assistant Professor position starting August 17, 2001.
Qualifications include an earned doctorate, a
strong background in quantitative social science methods,
evidence of scholarly research and of university teaching
potential, and interest in participating in collaborative
projects and seeking external funding.
Candidates must have expertise in assessment and
quantitative methods, with a program of research addressing
theoretical developments as well as applications within
educational settings. Duties will include assisting in the
development of programs and coursework in educational
assessment, advising masters and doctoral students, and
teaching courses within a graduate level educational
statistics course sequence. The individual will
participate in the Maryland Assessment Research Center for
Education Success that is housed within the Department of
Measurement, Statistics, and Evaluation. The Center seeks
to advance assessment practice in the state of Maryland and
nationally by conducting basic and applied research, and
this effort is supported by the University of Maryland, The
Maryland State Department of Education, the ERIC
Clearinghouse on Assessment and Evaluation, and Maryland
businesses.
