Microsoft Word comes with a VERY powerful equation editor called, of all
things, Microsoft Equation.
To add a symbol or full equation from using this tool just click Insert >
Object > select Microsoft Equation from the list.
You can also add an equation button using View>Toolbars>Customize and in the
Command tab click on Insert and find the Equation Editor button.
If you don't find that sufficient, the "big brother" of Microsoft Equation,
MathType, is available. It has a wealth of extra features such as automatic
formula numbering, the ability to store and retrieve formulas, and more.
Read about it at http://www.mathtype.com .
